The images of photographs in this screen saver were commissioned by the Secretary of the Interior and were mostly taken between October 1941 and September 1942.

The images were to be used as murals of the national parks in the Department of the Interior 's museum, but the project was halted by World War II and the photographs were never used for this purpose.
